Connecting Through Reading
Thoughtful children’s books

Our Books
My Day With Erik explores having a family member with emotional-wellness struggles.
This light-hearted text provides families with a platform for further discussion on emotional health and self-care.
Our intention is to normalize taking time to care for ourselves and our emotional health.
Join the narrator as he has a day with a family friend while Dad rests.
We wrote this story with two intentions. One: to share Aengus' journey of learning how to ride a bike! He wanted so badly to not need his training wheels anymore. Two: we wanted to share Aengus' family. Families come in all varieties; every child should see themselves and their family reflected in children's literature. Aengus' Bike shows determination, resilience, family, and above all, love.
Aengus is four years old and loves superheroes.
He and his mom live at Oma's farm.
Aengus is working really hard to try to learn to ride a two-wheeler.
Aengus can't wait for his dad to visit on the weekend and watch him ride his bike.
We are two families that worked together to expand one family. We, the authors, wanted the focus of this book to be about family growth, not just about surrogacy. We are individuals outside the LGBTQ2S+ community, and this book is from our perspective and a daughter's perspective. We wanted to ensure we were not speaking for other people. Our intention is that other families may enjoy and relate to this experience, or find commonalities with their own experience. Some families may find this to be a completely different experience from their own. Eli's baby story shows real people, blended families, natural parenting styles and above all, love.
